How To Do Dental Care At Home?

Contrary to popular belief, oral and dental care at home consists of three stages that are easy, do not take long and become a habit in a short time if they are routinely established.

Our first condition is; This three-stage oral and dental care should be applied every morning and evening. In exceptional cases, these times can be increased.

In some of our patients, we see that it is a wrong practice to perform oral and dental care in the morning before breakfast. Our request from our patients is that they do their oral and dental care in the morning after breakfast and in the evening before going to bed.

THREE STAGES IN ORAL AND DENTAL CARE

It is possible to list these stages briefly in three items:

1)      Correct Brush, Correct Technique and Brushing in Enough Time

Teeth should be brushed at least twice and for at least three minutes every day, in the morning after breakfast and before going to bed in the evening. Since choosing the right brush varies for each individual, help from a specialist physician should be sought. In the same way, how to brush with the right technique should be discussed with a specialist physician and learned in detail with visual techniques.

After each brushing of the teeth, the tongue surface should be cleaned with appropriate apparatus. In some cases, it may be appropriate to increase the number and duration of brushing your teeth during the day by your dentist.

2)      Floss Usage:

Dental floss is not very common, but it is an indispensable product in oral and dental care. Because a toothbrush alone can clean about 63% of teeth. We recommend that you use dental floss, which is at least as important as brushing, by learning the correct technique from your physician and applying it at least once a day.

3)      Use of Mouthwash:

We recommend using mouthwash in the morning and evening after brushing and flossing. Because mouthwashes, which are one of the most easily accessible oral and dental care products today, are very useful when used correctly. However, it may cause undesirable results when used incorrectly or in excess amount and time.

First of all, mouthwashes should be applied with the recommendation of your dentist. Permanent use of some types of mouthwash can create unexpected, permanent and bad results. As a result of your dentist's advice, a cap mouthwash should be rinsed in the mouth for 30 seconds, that is, mouthwash should be made in the morning and evening. Then it should be spit out without swallowing and no food or drink should be consumed, including water, for half an hour.

Finally; regular oral and dental care is essential for every treatment applied by your doctor to remain as on the first day and not to shorten the duration of use.
